Lowney Associates recently performed geotechnical investigations at the Pacific Shores Center, consisting of approximately 1.72 million square feet of office space. Ten office buildings, ranging from three to five stories and a two-story fitness center were built on the 107-acre site. The buildings are supported on pre-cast, pre-stressed, concrete piles driven through soft, compressible Bay Mud into the underlying stiff alluvial soils. First level floors consists of structural slabs to account for future ground settlement. Lowney Associates performed construction observation and testing services for the on-site grading, the widening of Seaport Boulevard, and the installation of parking lots and underground utilities. Pile driving for all buildings was completed in August 2000. Construction construction for the entire development was completed by 2001. The architect is DES Architects + Engineers.
