Lowney Associates provided geotechnical, environmental and construction observation and testing services for Electroglas' new San Jose campus. The development is comprised of four steel-frame campus structures, including a two-story operations building, a three-story technology center, a two-story customer pavilion and a two-story employee pavilion totaling 266,000 square feet. We performed a Phase I preliminary environmental site assessment that included review of site hydrogeology, historical use, regulatory records and a site reconnaissance. Additionally, we worked closely with the structural engineer to evaluate many configurations of pier and pile types and sizes to provide a seismically compatible and cost-effective foundation. Recommendations for subgrade stabilization in pavement areas enabled the grading and paving to be completed during the rainy season. The architect was Kenneth Rodrigues & Partners.
