Lowney Associates recently performed an indoor air quality (IAQ) evaluation for a six-building high tech campus. A high tech company requested our services as part of their employee notification program. To promote a better working environment, we provided on-site workers with information on the quality of the ambient air in their workplace. We implemented indoor and background outdoor air sampling and analysis to target specified chemical of concern including volatile organic compounds, aldehydes, molds and fungi. During our survey, we identified a potential IAQ concern. In an area where employees complained of headaches and dizziness, we detected fuel-related compounds at concentrations significantly elevated above the background levels. Pollutant source evaluation and removal is currently being performed to restore healthy air to the building.
